The Santa Barbara Zoo was...
SO last year. Okay, so C and I had another little excursion on the 30th. Yes, that was last year. But we had a bit of a girls day, even if we were only there for a little over 2 hours. The Santa Barbara Zoo is so nice and cozy and very doable in 2-3 hours which is nice with little kids. Just enough time to see lots of cool animals and get them tired, but not bore them to tears with the endless schlepping. Besides, the animals have the coolest view being across the street from the Pacific Ocean. If you have to be held in captivity, you might as well have a nice view. The only nicer zoo I've been to is the Taronga Zoo in Sydney which overlooks the Sydney Harbour. Doesn't get better than that.Anyway, we had a nice time, just us girls, checking out all the cool animals. They now have penguins at the zoo. They're from Chile so they are "warm" weather penguins. We got there right at feeding time. They were eating and swimming all over the place.

Giraffes including the one with the crooked neck.

Lions. It's got to be such a tease that they're right next to the giraffes.

And of course, so many more monkeys, flamingos, birds, gorillas, etc.

Of course, the carousel and the playground also scored lots of points on the fun scale for C.

And my little photographer took a perfectly centered shot of her mom. I'm always impressed when she picks up my big camera, looks through the eye hole and takes a shot. She loves playing with the camera.

Now, on to New Year's. As previously mentioned, my child doesn't sleep much. She's a great, fun, funny kid but sleeping is her one vice. So after a badly times crash, she woke up and we knew we were in for her joining us to ring in the new year. So here's Miss C enjoying a glass of the bubbly (sparkling cider) at the stroke of midnight.

Taking another photo of dear old mom and dad. At least one of us was in our pajamas at midnight.

And the first family photo of 2007.

We also went to visit my beautiful niece Ever on the 1st. Here are two stinking cute photos of my perfect niece. She's definitely a happy girl.

Okay, no more major photo events are on the schedule. I'll give you all a break from the pictures for awhile.
