Sad News
I looked back on my blog posts and saw that I wrote about Scoop on August 7th. He passed away this morning, less than three months after being diagnosed with cancer. I think he was in his late 50's, a smoker his whole life but no one deserves this. Without a doubt, one of the nicest men I've ever worked with. His sweetness will be missed. He'll be missed on every award show from now on, he worked on all of them. I'll miss his smile and how he always asked me how Dad and "baby" are.. It's a sad day. Love you Scoopy! Now, go play with Wendy and tell her we all said "Hi".
Cinderelly!
FINALLY! Second attempt and Daddy being around is the charm. We finally got Carly into her Cinderella costume and took pictures yesterday. We go the big smiles by Carly saying "trick or treating" instead of "smile". Of course, the accessories include the flashing light crown, necklace, purse and pumpkin. We managed to misplace the "magic wand" (aka large plastic Cinderella septer) for several days. Carly kept saying "it disappeared" which is really quite appropriate for a magic wand, but it magically re-appeared today. Too late for the photos but still good for a good "piff, puff, poof". All we need now, is one more wearing on Halloween and we're good to go.
Remembering Wendy
One year (and one day) ago, Wendy passed away from BC. I was at the hospital when she passed along with many of her closest friends and family. I just can't believe it's been a year. I really miss her. I miss the late night IM chats. I miss her random calls saying "let's go to lunch". I miss going to Color Me Mine. I miss her at work. She was a great AD and always so much fun to work with. I still think about her nearly every day. I made sure that Carly said "love you Wendy" and looked up to heaven yesterday. She had no idea what she was doing but I did. Love you and miss you Wendell Hoopner!
Yay for me!
I won a digital scrapbook LO contest! My fellow Foxy Amber has a company called citrusblossoms.com (check the link on the side) and she was having a Spooktacular Layout Contest with her Fall kits. I played around and submitted two, just for fun. And one of them won!! I won a $25 gift card for her website which I KNOW will come in handy with her fantastic digi kits. I'm very excited. This is the first contest I've ever won!!

I have to wonder...
Will I ever get pregnant? In the last month, I've had 3 friends tell me that they're pregnant. While I'm truly thrilled for them, I wonder if it will happen for me. I'm the oldest person I know trying to conceive and I feel like I'm going to be the oldest Mom on the planet. No one my age is having kids. They've all been there, done that and are way done with the baby stuff. Maybe then, I'll get lucky and this kid will be a novelty for everyone. I'm about to start IVF treatments which scare me to no end. I'm afraid of having to do it multiple times. Financially and emotionally, that thought doesn't thrill me. I know I have one amazing, gorgeous, smart daughter who I love with all my heart but I always wanted more kids, preferably three. I'm figuring I'll be VERY lucky if I have two. So I wonder if it'll all work out. Crossing fingers...
Dee-Do Boogie
Not really sure where Carly got this but about 3 weeks ago she started saying this non-sensical "dee-do boogie". Then "dee-do, dee-do", etc. Very funny and she just loves saying. Well, Gregg and I forgot what followed the "dee-do" part so we were talking about it. I thought it was disco so it was "dee-do disco". Gregg didn't think it sounded quite right though. So I said, ask Carly. See if she remembers. So we did. We asked her "Did you say dee-do disco?" She said, without missing a beat, "No, it's dee-do boogie." She totally remembered what she said. We all just cracked up. So now she just alternates between "dee-do boogie" and "dee-do disco". I guess you have to hear her say it, but it's pretty funny.
Santa Barbara Zoo
Carly and I went to the Santa Barbara Zoo today. (Yes, it was a little sacreligious going on Yom Kippur but I figured I'm going to sit home with Carly today until services at 4PM and she's never been to the zoo. I did manage to not eat anything and keep up my fast). We went with Renee and Amanda and Mollie, Katrina and Alli. We had a blast. Carly loved seeing all the animals and luckily the first animal to see was the scarlet macaw, which was a big hit thanks to "Go Diego Go!". We saw elephants, sea otters, flamingos, lemur, gorillas, leopards, turtles, frogs, lots of birds, alligator, giraffes including the one with the crooked neck, and so much more. We also fed the farm animals which was also a lot of fun. Carly could tell you the whole list. She came home and told Gregg all about it, including what she had for lunch. The best part of that conversation was that she told him that she ate her whole mac and cheese but that I threw it away before her last bite. That's exactly what happened so when he repeated that part to me, I nearly fell over. It's a great, beautiful zoo and what a great place for the animals. About a block from the beach. Reminds me of Taronga Zoo in Sydney overlooking the Harbour. I can't wait to go back. Hey, it's only a one hour drive which, at certain times, is pretty much how long it would take to get to the LA Zoo.

Well, I'm really tired but I had THE BEST time this past weekend. Going down to Carlsbad with Lisa, Kari and Melissa to crop was fantastic. Kirsten is just the nicest person (Lisa, you're lucky to have such a great best friend) and her sister Heidi and her friend Allison are also great. I didn't sleep much but that was the point. My final total was 28 scrapbook LO's done, some double page, some single. I'm really happy with all of them but a few are a bit better than normal so I'm proud of those. I'll have to try and submit some and see how they do. There's still a lot more I wish I could've accomplished and I really wish I could've stayed for the day today instead of coming home for the hockey draft. But oh well, the draft was fun too. Now hopefully, I'll have drafted a decent team to make up for leaving a day early. We went to 3 LSS's and of course, I managed to spend some money. On some things I needed and probably some things I don't, but oh well. It was worth it to go to these stores. Off to unload the considerable amount of stuff from my car. I'm going to bed.
Scrappin' weekend YAY!
I'm so excited. Tomorrow, I'm going down to Carlsbad with Lisa, Kari and Melissa for a cropping junket. 2 days (well 1 1/2 with travel) of non-stop cropping. I'm very much looking forward to hanging with the girls and actually getting things done. I've prepared over 30 LO's, pulled the papers, photos, embellishements, etc. I'm packing SO much crap into my car. Except for the Sizzix and the QuickKutz, I'd pretty much be bringing all of it anyway to a regular crop. Whatever. I'll make it fit in the car with plenty of room for Melissa's stuff, since she's driving with me. I can't wait!! I'll post the final total when I get back. Woo-Hoo!
