I'm overdoing it

I've officially hit my wall, lost the plot, stick a fork in me, done. Not with the pregnancy but with all the running around. I'm freaking exhausted and it's once again as I write this. There are NOT enough hours in the day, in case you didn't already know that. I realize some of my time problems are self imposed but still, it all really got to me today.

It started with picture re-take day at school. Since I'm in charge of the yearbook, I had to supervise the photos. That only took an hour so it really wasn't a big deal. I came home, wanted to spend more time cleaning and organizing the Snoopy room (aka Boo-Boo's room) but only had about an hour before I had to take off again. I did get the trash out of there, just a few more things to do which honestly should only take an hour. Then I had to get going to make the first of my two trips to the Westside today.

For those who aren't Los Angelians, that means at least a 1 hour drive across town to go to some doctor's appointment. This was my nutritionist for the Gestational Diabetes follow up plus seeing yet ANOTHER DOCTOR who specializes in GD. Once I got there, bottom line, my numbers aren't great in terms of being controlled by diet. They're a little erratic, still only a little over where we want it to be but diet is not doing it for me. By the time I saw the doctor, I was short on time before I had to leave to pick up C from school (remember over an hour drive back). This didn't start off so well with the doctor since I should've gotten yet another ultrasound. But we chatted it out, talked all the medical history and what this all means even without the u/s. It looks like I"ll probably have to go on some form of diabetes medication for the final 7 weeks, until the Boo-Boo's are born. But where I totally lost the plot today is with the concept that I just can't add a 3rd doctor to my schedule. I drive once a week as it is to see the OB and the perinatologist, I simply can't add a 3rd. I don't have it in me. Tears came to my eyes. I couldn't take it anymore. I don't care which two doctors I go to, but I can't do three on the other side of town. The one good thing to come out of the chat with the doctor is that they can monitor me like the perinatologist AND with the GD (which the peri's office doesn't have a GD specialist) so that means I can eliminate that doctor, probably. I'll go see my OB next week and talk it all down, but boy, this totally set me over the edge and I was really down. Okay, and let's not even talk about the fact that I left my house at 11:45A to make the 1PM appointment so by the time I got home at 4PM, I hadn't eaten anything either. It was not a good 4 hours for me.

Then I was home for about 90 minutes before I had to go back to Culver City for flute choir. And of course I had to get gas or I wasn't going to get anywhere. I know I probably shouldn't be going at this point because it's just too tough but I've committed at this point so I'm doing my best to follow through. I know I can't do the Southland holiday tour that we always do. I need to remove myself from that. I doing my final scrap hurrah on Saturday so I wanted to do some organizing for that. No time for that so far so tomorrow will be crazy trying to pull stuff. I'm volunteering in C's class which will be fine (it's not like I can do any errands before I get out at 10AM anyway). Gotta run to Costo to pick up some photos I sent for printing, need to go to Target to get donations for Mitzvah Day for Sunday (but G may be doing that) and oh yeah, tomorrow is Trick or Treating so from 5P-9P is booked with that. See? There just aren't enough hours in the day. I won't even discuss that my cold is still lingering and my ankles and thighs are pretty much the same width. I know the swelling is bad when I take off the big clunky Crocs and they've left marks on feet. It was a sucky day.

I'm going to sleep. Hopefully, I'll get about 6 hours of sleep. After all Scarlett, tomorrow is another day.

Oh, might as well give you all something to smile about. Here's the latest belly pics.

That's Entertainment

Well, we had a weekend chockerblock full of entertainment. Yesterday, we went to see "High School Musical 3". I will admit that I haven't seen HSM2 (is that sacrilegious?) but somehow I was able to keep up. It was cute, well done, the dancing is great. I actually enjoyed it. I guess I don't get out enough and don't see too many movies, but it certainly was cute and nothing to offend with a 5 1/2 year old in tow. Oh and the Boo-Boo's seemed to really like the music. They were quite active during the musical numbers.

Today, we all went to see "Wicked". This is my 4th time, G's 2 1/2 (long story) and C's first. She's known the music for two years so we finally decided she was old enough to sit through it. According to C, she loved it. She was a little fidgety during the first act but every time one of her favorite songs came up - "Loathing", "Popular", "Defying Gravity" for starters - there was a huge smile on her face. She loved the dragon above the stage when it moved. It was great to see her reactions to some of the great things in this show. Who knows how much she really understood but she definitely had a smile on her face. We saw the Glinda understudy who was pretty good. She had a great singing voice but somehow was missing a bit of the perkiness. Elphaba was good as well but nothing can compare to Eden Espinosa (who I've seen 3 times) and Idina Menzel on the CD. The best story is Madame Morrible. I've seen the show 4 times and 3 times I've seen Carol Kane's understudy. I did see her once but I'm not convinced she's actually a regular in the show. It's pretty funny. We had a great day though and now, hopefully, when we listen to the CD, C will be able to picture the show as we sing along.

Here are some photos. You'd be so disappointed if I didn't have any.

Before the show. Notice the purse we carried today.

Snack at intermission with the Elphaba cookie we bought at Barnes & Noble the other day.

Yeah, I know...

I guess no one can go 9 months without getting a cold. Now, it's my turn. I hate feeling yucky and it's even worse when you can't take anything for it. So here I am sniffling and snuffling and generally feeling like crap. Last night, I had one of those nights where I was up every 30-50 minutes. I actually didn't wake up exhausted but I know I didn't sleep much. Now, I just need to muddle through the next few days and hopefully it'll pass quickly. I'm sure this'll do wonders for the GD and the blood testing I have to do 4 times a day. I can't taste food at this point so why bother eating and while I shouldn't be drinking juice because of the sugar, a glass or two a day with 100% Vitamin C, well I just need it, darn it.

Went to see the doctor yesterday and the Boo-Boo's are great. I've got about 8 weeks to go. Holy crap! We are so NOT ready. I started to move some stuff around from Carly's room to the babies' room. I need to do some more purging to get things ready to go. Of course, this feeling like crap doesn't help anything. All I want to do is sleep it off. Next week we go see the perinatologist and the nutritionist again. I'm getting tired of driving across town so I guess that 8 weeks is pretty good.

RIP to our old TiVo. We got a Replay (the other competitor way back when DVR's became popular) as a wedding present and we've had no problems with it. We got this TiVo about 3 years ago and it's dead. We started having problems back when we were in Vegas for the Telethon and G spent hours on the phone trying to reset the darn thing. That worked. Now, since we watch TV through the machine, it stutters and stops randomly and the last few days, we turn it on and it's starting over with a complete reset. G called again and it sounds like our hard drive is dying. Lovely. I tried to dump off the few shows I'm behind but it keeps freezing as well so it's hopeless. We happen to have a new one which we'll be hooking up tonight but we'll lose whatever it on there. Oh well. Thankfully, "Survivor", "The Amazing Race" and "Grey's Anatomy" are all available online. So I'll be sitting on my laptop trying to catch up. It's really annoying.

Off to have some chicken soup...

Number 2 of...

Update on the Boo-Boo's. First of all, they've been extremely active. Especially Baby B on my right side. Last week when we went to my OB, she was able to see Baby A with its arm across its head. And Baby B was sticking its tongue out. She was going fast so we only saw the open mouth part but clearly Baby B is going to be my trouble maker. As long as they sleep, I don't care. C is still a lousy sleeper that we're determined to change with these two.

I also seem to have slight gestational diabetes. Grr, very annoying. I had to take the 3 hour glucose test a few days earlier which was such a time kill. When I saw my doctor, she told me that I was only like 6 points over which means she has to tell me that I'm borderline. She totally thinks that I can be fine with some dietary changes but I still have to go see a nutritionist tomorrow. So one more schlep to the Westside (actually I have to do it twice tomorrow but that's a different issue because of flute choire) to have someone tell me what I can and can't eat for the next 9 weeks. I figure if I just eliminate soda (which I have) and crap candy (candy corn and others with corn syrup), that should help a lot. Yeah, I know, I'm a bad eater.

Today, C and I went to see the perinatologist. She was very nice to C and gave her copies of these same ultrasound pictures and wrote a little "Hi C from Baby A" and "Baby B" note on each. It was very cute. C wants to put them in her scrapbook. Anyway, the Boo-Boo's are doing fantastic. I'm at 27 weeks, 5 days and they're measuring at 29 weeks. And yes, those are measurements for singletons. They're both about 3 pounds which is also really good. So I've got some superbabies in there. I would say I'm a little concerned about birthing these "big" babies but we all know that they'll run out of room soon enough. As long as they're healthy and clearly they're happy, then all is going well.

Here's the latest photo ops.

Baby B who was being way more photogenic today. Can you see the profile?

And here's Baby A who wasn't interested in posing but with two, we have to have equal time so this one's a lot less clear.

It's your right to vote

I think all of you out there (is this thing even on?) are all registered to vote already but I thought this was worth passing along. Very well done.

Number 1 of...

Oh, I've got so many things to catch up on but I'll so one at a time so your eyes don't pop out of your head and my fingers don't cramp up.

Last weekend, I had the great opportunity to go away for my best scrapbooking weekend ever. My amazing friend G organized Inspiration Unlimited which was two days of workshops with three of my favorite teachers out there - Teresa Collins, Janna Wilson and Layle Koncar. I can't tell you how many classes I've taken from all of them so when UI came along with all three in one place, well, I wrote G a check on the spot. I drove out with L, S and B and we had a great time with GREAT company.

Friday was a day of Make & Takes. Those are quick little projects that show off a great technique or a new way to look at something and it's done quickly. We made a great project with an acrylic ring. A super cool project with dog tags which my mind is spinning with ideas on how to make more. An adorable Halloween mini-book created by Teresa with her fabulous Halloween line of papers which used the Bind-It-All. And I loved B's chipboard "Boo" pin. It was a great day, full of inspiration. I have to say, I didn't sleep well that night as my mind was spinning with ideas. Here are some of the cool things we created.

Saturday was 3 - 3 hour workshops, one taught by each of the fabulous teachers. We started with Teresa's "Observations" album. I actually finished this one with all the photos but I still need to do the journaling. As always, Teresa's albums are fantastic and this was certainly no exception.

The second class was taught by Layle. This was "This is What Makes Me Happy". I did the basics of this album since I didn't bring any photos but this one I can't wait to finish. I've got lots of ideas to fill this one up. I've taken several classes from Layle at Scrapbook Expo's and they've all be terrific. I love Scenic Route paper but for some reason I can't figure it out. So when I take her layout classes, I get SR in my scrapbooks and she's given me the inspiration. This project was no exception. Beautiful paper (which I also won a paper pack - woo-hoo!) and a great album, when I finish it.

The third project was taught by Janna who I've also taken 2 or 3 classes from. Her creativity is beyond amazing. She comes up with ideas that are 3-D and so different. This one was definitely technique driven. We sewed these flower things, which nearly killed me since I cut the fabric wrong, but it really was a cool technique. I'd be willing to try it again when I've got more patience. I think there was an element of brain overload by the time we got to this. But still, the project came out great and C loved it too. We also have the goodies to make 3 layouts so I'm excited about that too.

After dinner on Saturday, we finished up our projects. G and the teachers had arranged a HUGE array of prizes from so many manufacturers we lost count. I won a couple of very cool things including paper packs, a Scor-It template board and a beautiful charm bracelet. I didn't participate in the charm swap since I'm so not that creative but the woman who organized it, also had everyone make an extra charm which she used as a fundraiser for the John Tracy Clinic, which, of course, is a wonderful organization. She was doing a raffle/fundraiser with the charm bracelet as the prize. Layle picked out the winner and she picked my name! I was so darned excited. S participated in the charm swap and when she got her pile of goodies it was amazing. Everyone did such a beautiful job and I envious, not that I could create anything like that. So it was even better than I won a charm bracelet for myself. It's certainly a treasure and a treasure of my IU weekend. Isn't this beautiful?

Once it all wound down on Saturday, we went to the bar at the hotel to get a drink. I was happy with my two nice, cold O'Doul's although I would've preferred my "venti lemon drop martini". I don't think those come in virgin form so the near-beer would have to do. Other than being exhausted and on brain overload, I had the best weekend. I can't wait for next year. Yes, I know I'll have the Boo-Boo's but I'll make it work somehow. It was so worth it, I wouldn't miss it again for the world. Thanks G for the best, most creative weekend I've ever done.

And a few other pics. Here are me with my girls. How did we miss a photo op of the 4 of us with B, I'll never know...

Me and Teresa (I soon will be able to do an entire album of me and Teresa pics from all the classes I've taken from her)

L'Shana Tova

Happy New Year to everyone who celebrates. Hope you had a nice holiday with family. We had a quiet day and went to children's services which were very nice. Saw lots of friends who I hadn't seen in awhile for various reasons and they all enjoyed the big belly.

One of the things that I really enjoyed seeing this year at services was how C understood what was going on. She knew the songs and at one point, the songleader was singing a song about apples and honey. C and her friend S (who goes to kindergarten at one of the local temples) said "I know this song in Hebrew." I liked how they didn't even know it in English. It's very cute to see all the kids (we were sitting with two of C's closest friends) sing all the songs and the prayers. In fact, C came into our room yesterday morning (we were still power napping) and of course, starting playing with something. Then she stopped for whatever reason, put her 3 fingers to her forehead and said the Sh'ma. She sang the whole thing by herself. I don't know if she's been taught that that's the prayer you say when you rise up in the morning but it was so cute that she just did it. Glad to see that paying for private school is paying off in some way. It was really inspiring actually.

Again, L'Shana Tova. May this be the start of a very sweet new year for one and all. And thanks Uncle M and Aunt L who always send us the yummiest honey from a farm in Washington (or is it Oregon?) Regardless, it's something we look forward to every year and we love it.
