Happy Monday!
I went down to Carlsbad with L and K for another scrapbooking weekend. This might be my last in terms of a "big getaway" for awhile so I took advantage of the full weekend. I never get as much as done as I hope for but I did get 24 pages done which I'm pleased with. Some are good, a few not so much but they're done and that's a good thing. I still have a pile of pictures to scrap and maybe when I finally stop working in September (and clean my scrap/crap area), I'll take some of that down time to get more done. I should at least attempt to catch up a little before I go completely MIA when the Boo-Boo's arrive. I'll have to scan a few to show off here or somewhere. I don't have a regular place to post anymore so maybe the blogdom will have to do.
I'm feeling good. We *finally* took some belly pictures. C didn't want to take any photos holding my belly so we'll do that tomorrow. She clunked her eye so she wasn't interested in posing for photos. So here are some photos of my 15 week belly for your viewing pleasure.

Quickie
Hi all! I've been meaning to post for days but I haven't downloaded photos from my camera and I still haven't. I want to share photos of our going to Ringling Bros. circus last week. It was really good. We went two years ago but this was better. It's more entertaining for adults too. Sure, there's the requisite elephants (who pooped and peed LOL), tigers and trapeze but there were lots of other acts, more Cirque du Soliel like. Strong men, acrobats with silks, and they had this cool thing where they had a wire globe and 7 motorcycles were driving around in it. No one crashed. It was pretty impressive. We had a great time.
And for those of you who know my child, you know that she's not much of a meat eater. That's her choice. She's a cheese girl except for chicken nuggets. Well, we had some friends over for BBQ last week and out of the blue, C says "I want a hot dog." Excuse me? She eats soy corndogs from Trader Joe's but none of this real meat stuff. Well, blow me over and call me Dorothy, she ate the whole thing. And has proceeded to eat hot dogs two other times this week. Holy cow Batman! But wait there's more. One of the things that sound good to eat while I'm pregnant are hard boiled eggs. I don't really care for eggs much (learned to eat them 2 years ago on a diet) but I like hard boiled egg yolks. Yeah, not the healthiest but whatever. So I'm eating my egg the other day and Miss C says "I want one in my lunch". She ate it and we've put them in her lunch the rest of the week. And yesterday, she actually ate cherries with Dad. She hasn't quite worked out the pit thing but she likes them. I don't know what's happening but these are the first new foods in ages. I'm going to shut up and run with it. More food choices yay!!!
Nothing new to report from the Boo-Boo's other than they're getting bigger. Bigger is good. I'm slowly gaining some weight but it's getting there. I feel huge for being only 4 months but it's only going to get huge-r as we continue on. Still very ready for the headaches to go away, big time. I'm very over that. And I'm excited to be going to Carlsbad for a scrapping weekend tomorrow. I haven't scrapped anything seriously since March and it could be one of my last hurrahs. I'm so far behind so if I can make a slight dent, I'll be happy.

Santa Barbara Zoo
So today we went on a field trip with Aunt A and cousin E. We went to the Santa Barbara Zoo which was E's first zoo experience. For those who have never been, it's a beautiful, small zoo. Totally do-able in 2-3 hours (aka perfect for little ones) and it's right across the street from the beach. Not a bad view if you're a lion or a giraffe. It was a gorgeous day, perfect weather and not hot and not crowded. I'm sure Alli has some great photos on her camera so we'll have to check out her blog for the highlights but here are some of ours.

On the other topic of The Boo-Boo's, as C has dubbed them. (better than Boobies I suppose). Went to the doctor on Thursday and all is well. They're swimming and very active. I actually have to work on gaining weight. With twins they want me to gain 20-25 pounds in the first 20-24 weeks. By the second half, the babes are bigger so there's less room in my stomach for food. I've only gained about 8 so far. It's not for lack of trying but I've got some work to do. Gee, too bad. I guess I'll just *have* to drink milkshakes and eat some ice cream. Yeah, I'll also be better with protein shakes but I've got to get cracking. I've got about 15 pounds to gain in the next 10 weeks or so. Lovely. Other than that, all is well and I go back in a month.
Off to watch the premiere of "Big Brother 10".
Two things
Have I mentioned lately my love for the Caramel Frappaccino? I'm not much of a coffee drinker (except egg-nog latte time) so I drink Frappaccino's. Sweet, caramel-y, yummy. Not good on the hips but it generally takes me at least an hour to finish one so I figure I space out the calories over a period of time. I'm also a headache and migraine sufferer. With this pregnancy, I've had quite a few headaches and more migraines than I had when I was preggo with C. They've been brutal. Pounding, mostly on one side, taking a lot of Tylenol that doesn't really seem to help, and even a few Vicadin (Tylenol based) which have mostly worked.
A few weeks ago, as I woke up with Day 5 of a headache (the day after I had taken two Vicadin in 24 hours), I, who's trying to avoid what little caffeine might be in a Frap, broke down and bought a Tall Caramel Frappaccino. Within the hour, my headache was gone. Yesterday, after a difficult night trying to sleep with another headache that wouldn't go away, I got another Frap as I was up early for my first production day at "Big Brother". Again, within the hour, my headache was gone. I don't know if it's the caffeine or the large amounts of sugar that's in a Frap, but whatever it is, it's been working better than prescription drugs. I'll have to talk to my doctor about the headaches since they've been particularly brutal, but I'm still just hoping that they'll subside as I get more into my second trimester.
Most of you know that I work "Big Brother". Tonight the houseguests moved in and they drama has already started. You'll have to tune in on Sunday to see what happens. As you may also know, I work on the MDA Jerry Lewis Labor Day Telethon. This year will be my 19th year. Wow! Anyway, one of the regular and favorite performers is Bear, from "Bear in the Big Blue House". For those that follow "Big Brother", each year the house has a different architectural theme. This year it's rooms throughout the ages and all the rooms of the house correspond to a different era. For example, the kitchen this year resembled a 50's diner. The exterior of the house is reminiscent of something out of "The Music Man". It looks beautiful.
So yesterday, we're rehearsing for the move-in and doing our thing and one of our cameramen, who works BB and the Telethon, came up to me and said "I feel like I should be seeing an 8 foot Bear dancing around in front of the house." He was right on the money. The front facade of the house totally reminds of Bear's house in "Bear in the Big Blue House". It was perfect. Here's a photo of the front of house and Bear in front of his house from the Telethon. Pretty close huh? Well, you can see the resemblance anyway.
To see more of the BB house, you'll just have to tune in on Sunday at 8PM to see the new hamsters and the new decor.
What does this picture mean to you?
Well, let me tell you. We’re pregnant… and we’re pregnant with twins. For those of you that know us, we’ve been trying for several years. We’ve gone through several fertility treatments and this one finally took. And boy did it take. I’m coming out of my first trimester in my 12th week. I’m feeling overall really good. A little tired and pretty much hungry a lot. And unlike when I was preggo with C, it’s not like “Oh, I’m feeling hungry, I should eat something soon.” This time, I’m hungry, I’m hungry NOW. I haven’t yet gained a lot of weight, thank goodness but my body shape has definitely shifted so I’ve made the move into maternity clothes. Way more comfortable and less binding on my belly. My 40-week due date is January 9 but with twins it’s 2-3 weeks earlier so we’re going with December 20ish as the due date. Right around Hanukkah which is a good concept for C to grasp.
I’m sure you’re all wondering how C reacted to finding out she was going to be a big sister. We waited until I officially graduated from fertility doctor land and for G to come home from NY. We videotaped her response so that we could always remember it. Luckily, she has several friends in school who have baby brothers. Two had brothers last October and another has twin brothers who are now almost a year. So she gets the concept of babies and being a big sister. We told her that we know she likes being a “big sister” to C (baby brother #4 of the group) and how would she like it if she were a real big sister. She was very excited and that thought. In fact, she said to G (which she had said to me in the past) that “actually, she wants two babies.” Well kid, funny that you say that because Mommy is going to have two babies. It was all really cool and then she said she wanted to play with the video camera. Okay, so yeah she heard us but did it really sink in.
Well, the next morning at school dropoff, I barely get the car in park when she tells S, her teacher who greets the kids, “My Mommy has TWO (holding two fingers right up to her face) babies in her belly!!” S looked at me with big eyes. “Yup, guess what we told C last night.” We had just had a class event the night before and only a few moms knew so it was a big surprise. And then, of course, proceeded to tell everyone who would listen that she’s going to be a big sister. The cool one was, at our parent-teacher evaluation, her Hebrew teacher told us that C told her in Hebrew “Ema, Sh’teyeem Ti’nok”. Mom, two babies. That was quite impressive and C told her in Hebrew because she says that her teacher doesn’t speak English, or so they think. C always wants to kiss my belly and say hi to the “Boo-Boo’s” as she calls them. She says she loves them and gives them hugs. It’s very cute. Hopefully she’ll feel the same when they’re crying at 3AM. Perhaps, she’ll finally learn to roll over and sleep through the night. What a concept.
For those that want to know the sexes of Thing 1 and Thing 2, you’ll just have to wait until they officially arrive to find out, just like us. We don’t want to know. We didn’t know about C and it’s one of the few surprises left in this world and we want to be surprised. We’ll do whatever tests the doctors determine so that we know that they’re perfectly healthy, that’s all we’re concerned about. From these photos, we know that they’re right where they’re supposed to be for 12-13 weeks and they’re swimming in there beautifully.
So that’s pretty much the news for now. Perhaps that’s why I’ve been neglectful of the blog lately. I’ve been tired and while I’ve obviously had plenty to say, I didn’t want to say much until we were over some big humps. At least now, I’ll have something to talk about and update more often.
