Oh glorious day!
The wait is finally over. The "Sex And The City" movie opened today and G and I went to see it. It's absolutely perfect. I cried many times from laughter, sadness, tears of joy. I've been a diehard fan of the show since pretty much the beginning. It's my phone ringer. I watch it pretty much every night on KTLA at midnight. I can't get enough of the show so I wanted to see the movie on the first day. Did anyone notice the countdown that's been on the blog for about 2 months? Anyway, I wanted to see it so that I didn't get anyone's opinion, review, whatever. I wanted to go in totally pure and unbiased. I was not disappointed. And I think by the sounds of the packed movie theater, I think the feeling was mutual. I can't wait to see it again and you know I'll be first in line to buy the DVD. Perfection on every single level. It's been a great day.
Puppies

My FIL and his wife just adopted these two little girls. They're dachshund-terrier mixes and they're named Be-Be and Beth. They're about 4 months old and oh so very puppy. Oh man are they cute and cuddly.
And speaking of dogs, we all know that I have two escape artists. Yes, they still find ways to dig under the neighbor's fence and escape and thus they're locked inside when we're out of the house, much to their chagrin. And Tazzie is finding new ways to piss us off which I won't go into specifics but it hasn't been fun around here lately. But today was a good one. I left the house around 8A to drop C off at school, I was home about 8:30A. I was a little hungry and thought "oh, I'd like a piece of the challah that I bought yesterday at Trader Joe's". Hmmm, I knew I left it on the kitchen counter, where is it? Upon a quick look see, I saw the completely empty plastic bag on the floor in the office. In a 20 minutes period, Tazzie (since she's the smart, devious one) jumped up/climbed up/who knows what up, pulled the 2/3 challah onto the floor, tore open a hole in the bag and I can bet that they both devoured it. There wasn't a crumb by the time I got home. I'm surprised they didn't implode from the bloating but they were probably pretty full all day.
My dogs are officially and completely nuts.
Ballet Recital
Yes kids, I'm a bad blogger. I've barely been on the computer lately and I've just been lazy. No excuse and shame on me, but that's what it is.
So let's catch up on a few photos. Here's some pics from C's ballet recital two weeks ago. They performed to "It's My Party" and they'll cry if they want to. Picture rubbing of eyes and "whoa is me" arms. Oh yeah, and 5 girls turning 6 different ways. It was fabulous. They all looked great and did a great job. While this dance place may not be as formal as some others, which is fine with me, C definitely knows all her ballet steps and what they're called. In fact, she was reading one of her Princess books and they were dancing. She pointed out to G that that princess' feet here in 3rd position but her arms were in 2nd. She knew that was incorrect. So good for her. I don't think my cousin Rebecca will lose her spot with the Philadelphia ballet to C but she enjoys ballet and that's all that matters.
American Idol Finale
G directed the finale tonight. I went to the show which is unusual for me. I mean, I work in TV. Why do I want to see a TV taping? But this was different. I guess because I worked on 3 episodes of Idol this year that I felt a little more a part of it. I worked on yesterday's final performance show which was crazy but of course, fun. I even got a nice, warm fuzzy email tonight from one of the cameramen saying what a nice job I did and that I'm an "unsung hero". Since I feel like some people don't take me seriously as an AD, it was really nice that someone out there appreciates the information I'm giving and that it actually is helping. That was such a nice surprise.
But I digress.
G directed tonight's show. I didn't get to see any of the TV show part since I was in the audience but they did show the line cut of a few of the performances and they looked great. I'll have to sit and watch the show in the next few days. Everyone said how great G did and how good it looked. I'm so proud. YAY! Not that there was any doubt but it's still nice to hear.
The show was really good and fun to be at. Like a rock concert. A lot of great music and performances. Very fun!! But most importantly, DAVID COOK WON! Hallelujah! 97.5 million votes picked him the winner with 56% of the tally. I guess when I was voting on two phones, that's what put Cook over the top. When Ryan Seacrest announced "David... Cook", I screamed so loud. You'd think I was at a beloved Billy Joel concert. While I acknowledge that Archie has talent, and I didn't love Cook at the beginning (I was a big Carly follower from the November Hollywood week), he totally won me over the first week I worked on the show which was the Top 8. I'm glad the system works and the right David won. His reaction was fantastic too.
Here are a few photos I took tonight. They're super grainy since I was pretty much at the back of the house. And perhaps I haven't fully figured out my camera yet. But it was fun to be there. It was really loud but really exciting, especially at that final moment. YAY for David Cook!! Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Truly, well deserved all around.

Record temps here in Woodland Hills, CA. I heard it was 103 here today. Lovely. I had a quiet day today. Tried to sleep in a little bit, hung out at home and then went to a flute recital today. My flute choir teacher's private students' recital was today and one of the guys in flute choir (and one of her private students) is graduating high school. We played a quartet at our last flute choir concert so our teacher asked the other 3 of us to play as a "swan song" for G on his final recital. So it was nice to hear students play again, nice solos with piano, duets, trios. It reminded me of my student days and my recitals. G played from the Claude Bolling "Suite for Jazz Flute and Piano Suite 2". My last flute recital I played from "Suite 1". Two of the great flute compositions ever and G played the "Jazzy" movement wonderfully. It was so nice to hear.
I came home and C and G were in the pool. My sister and my niece were here too. They were all having a great time in the pool even if the water was a tad chilly. They have such a great time together. Look at these happy girls. They're having a blast!
Heard some sad news today that one of the IT guys on "Big Brother" killed himself. I didn't know him well. I had only dealt with B a few times at the beginning of the season getting my computer and he helped me with a few things that weren't configured correctly. He was always very nice, pleasant and cool with me. I can't imagine what was going on in his life that he could even consider such a thing. Obviously, he had other demons that no one knew about. Apparently, his girlfriend found him and he didn't leave a note. B couldn't have been more than 26. It makes me think "what if I could've helped?" I know realistically, our paths weren't meant to cross that way but it makes me wish that there could've been someone out there to be a better friend so that this could've been prevented. I know he had a lot of friends so obviously it was so much bigger. Still, it's a very sad thing. RIP B. You really will be missed.
Yes, I'm alive
It's been a very crazy week. I just finished up a show called "Pangea Day". What you haven't heard of it? Can't blame you. The concept was bringing the world together to encourage understanding and tolerance through film. Check out
pangeaday.org if it sounds interesting. It was actually interesting but it was a busy week. It was 4 hours on Current TV (upper tier cable channel) and was broadcast in over 100 countries. We played 20+ short films that were specifically submitted for this event. It was an interesting idea that who knows if anyone watched.
More importantly, Happy Mother's Day! I hope everyone had a wonderful day and was spoiled by their respective families. I had a very nice day. After getting up at 4:30A to be at work at 6AM for Pangea Day, I was exhausted last night. I was asleep by 9:30P which, for anyone that knows me, is completely unheard of. And I got to sleep in too. It was awesome. I got a new little camera from G & C. It's one that I've been eyeing for awhile. It's the Casio Exilim 10MP in a beautiful shade of blue. I'm trying to get the hang of it but it's cool so far.
I had an even nicer Mother's Day celebration with C at school on Friday. They had a lovely breakfast for us of bagels, cereal, fruit, juice and coffee.
Then we all went to the sanctuary and celebrated Shabbat. It's so awesome to see all these 5 and 6 year old kids singing all these Hebrew songs and being able to recite the Vayahavta prayer. It's amazing. Then we came back to the class for Friday challah and we got these beautiful picture frames that the kids made for us. C used about 6 pounds of glitter but I love it. It's been a great Mother's Day!
